Terms of Use

What this is

Code Meadows is operated by Code on Wheels, a Michigan non-profit, to deliver computer science education. It is provided free of charge. There is nothing to buy and no subscription.

Who may use it

• ▸Staff and volunteers of Code on Wheels, through accounts we issue.
• ▸Parents and guardians, who may create an account and register their own children.
• ▸Learners, through an account their parent or guardian sets up, or through a school program we run.
• ▸Anyone at all, for programs we have marked open — no account needed.

A child may not create their own account. Accounts for children are created by a parent or guardian, or by us under an agreement with a school. If your child is under 13 we will confirm your consent directly with you before their account is switched on.

Using it properly

• ▸Do not use someone else’s account, or share a login that is not yours.
• ▸Do not attempt to gain access to material you have not been given.
• ▸Do not upload or post anything unlawful, abusive, or harmful to other learners.
• ▸Do not attempt to disrupt the platform or the learning of others.

We may suspend or remove an account that is used this way. Where the account belongs to a child, we will tell their parent or guardian.

Lesson content

Lessons, exercises, and curriculum on this platform belong to Code on Wheels or to those we licence them from. You may use them for learning and teaching within our programs. Please do not republish or sell them.

Work a learner submits

Code and writing a learner submits remains theirs. We store it to run the program, show it to their instructor, and show it to their parent or guardian. We do not claim ownership of it and we do not use it to train AI models.

Ending it

You can stop at any time. A parent can withdraw permission or delete their child’s record entirely from the family portal. Deletion is permanent.

What we do not promise

We work hard to keep the platform running and accurate, but it is provided as-is. We cannot guarantee it will always be available or free of errors. This does not limit any rights you have that cannot be limited by law.

Privacy

How we handle information — especially children’s — is set out in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan. [counsel to confirm venue and dispute clause]
